In the women’s clash, KCB Nkumba Ladies battled past defending champions Sport-S in a pulsating five-set showdown.

The university side took the opening set 25-22 after a fast start that caught Sport-S off guard. Sport-S then rallied to dominate the next two sets 25-13 and 25-19, but KCB Nkumba showed remarkable resilience to turn the tide, winning the fourth set 25-18 and finishing off the decider 15-9.

KCB Nkumba Head Coach Tony Lakony praised his team’s fighting spirit after the dramatic victory. “First blood is always important in a big match like this, but we still have work to do,” he said. “The team showed the heart and fight to win against the reigning champions.”

In the men’s category, record champions Nemo Stars picked up where they left off last season, dispatching Sport-S 3-1 in a strong start to their campaign.

Nemo Stars dominated the opening set 25-16, but Sport-S briefly hit back to claim the second 25-22. From there, the experience and depth of Nemo Stars took charge as they sealed the next two sets 25-20 and 25-18 to secure victory.

The league action continues today at Nsambya with several fixtures lined up. In the women’s games, UPDF VC face Vision Volleyball Club at 1pm, Seroma VC take on UCU VC at 3pm, and KAVC play KCCA VC at 5pm.
