The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) has flagged off a six-player team to represent the country at the 2025 ITTF African Senior Championship in Tunis, Tunisia, set for October 12–19.
The contingent includes team captain Jonathan Ssenyonga, David Odoi, Joshua Magaya, Parvin Judith Nangonzi, Jemimah Nakawala, and Judith Mirembe, all under the guidance of coach Paul Mutambuze, a former Olympian.
UTTA President Cyrus Mark Muwanga also joins the delegation as he attends the Africa Table Tennis Federation Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Ugandan side will compete in singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team events.
The championship doubles as a qualifier for the 2026 World Team Table Tennis Championship in London, where the sport will mark its 100th anniversary. To earn a ticket to London, Uganda must finish among the top eight nations on the continent.
More than 25 countries, including heavyweights Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Congo, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Benin, will feature in the Tunis competition. Uganda’s women’s team heads into the event with confidence, having clinched bronze at last year’s edition.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s promising youngsters Joseph Sebatindira and Patience Anyango are gearing up for the World Hopes Week and Challenge in Sheffield, UK, running from October 13 to 19.
