Miami coach Javier Mascherano confirmed he spoke with Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni to secure Messi’s release, as Scaloni had decided to rest him for the friendly.
Mascherano praised his star player, stating he was “ready to do it” and calling him a “very special player.”
The win solidifies Inter Miami’s position for the play-offs, leaving them tied on points with second-placed FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference.
