MotoGP’s Marc Marquez has successfully undergone surgery in Madrid for the shoulder he injured at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
The newly crowned 2025 World Champion sustained a fracture and ligament damage after being taken out by Marco Bezzecchi.
While surgery was initially deemed unnecessary, a follow-up check revealed the injuries were not stabilizing.
A statement from Ducati confirmed the operation at the Ruber Internacional Hospital was successful, focusing on stabilizing the fracture and repairing the ligaments due to the risk of residual instability.
Marquez is now recovering at home. With the title secured, there is no pressure to rush back, as he has already been ruled out of the upcoming Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix.
Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will replace him at Phillip Island.
