Former British Olympic athletics coach Jose Vicente Leiva-Modahl has been charged with 19 child sex offences, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced.
Leiva-Modahl, 65, who coached his wife, former Olympic runner Diane Modahl, is facing charges including sexual assault of a child, rape, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
All charges relate to the same woman and cover the period between 2012 and 2024.
He is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The CPS stated they decided to prosecute after establishing sufficient evidence and determining it was in the public interest.
