Former West Ham and Chelsea boss Graham Potter is openly campaigning for the vacant Sweden men’s national team manager position, expressing a desire to return to the country where he launched his career.
Potter’s interest comes immediately after the Swedish Football Federation (SvFF) made history by sacking Jon Dahl Tomasson—the first men’s manager ever dismissed—following a crippling 1-0 defeat to Kosovo.
This leaves Sweden, despite a talented squad featuring Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, and Newcastle’s Anthony Elanga, bottom of Group B and facing long odds for World Cup qualification.
Potter, who successfully managed Östersund from 2011 to 2018, confirmed his availability while in the country, telling FotbollSkanalen, “I’m open to anything, really, where I feel I can help… it would be a fantastic opportunity for me, of course.”
Meanwhile, under-fire forward Anthony Elanga remained defiant, posting on Instagram: “We’ve stumbled, but we’re not done. The story isn’t finished yet!” as the team prepares for crucial November fixtures against Switzerland and Slovenia.
