Former NBA Most Valuable Player and nine-time All-Star Russell Westbrook has signed with the Sacramento Kings, preparing for his 18th season in the league.
The 36-year-old guard, who holds the NBA record for most triple-doubles (203) and was the 2016–17 MVP, joins the Kings after playing the 2024-25 season with the Denver Nuggets.
He became a free agent in June.
Kings general manager Scott Perry praised the veteran’s commitment, stating, “Russell embodies the identity we’re striving for in Sacramento… We expect him to strengthen our point guard position and provide leadership both on and off the court.”
The Kings will be the seventh team for Westbrook, who was drafted in 2008 and has also played for the Rockets, Wizards, Lakers, and Clippers.
