Lewis Hamilton stated that reports linking sacked former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to a job at Ferrari are “a little bit distracting” for the team ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
The seven-time champion, who supports current team principal Frederic Vasseur, said, “I don’t and I’m not going to entertain rumours,” but added, “The team have made it clear where they stand in terms of re-signing Fred.”
The Daily Mail reported this week that Ferrari was considering Horner, who was sacked by Red Bull in July. Horner later reached a reported €60 million (£52m) settlement with the company.
Despite the persistent media speculation, Vasseur’s contract was renewed just two and a half months ago, and Ferrari has consistently denied the claims since they first emerged this summer.
