Having made history by reaching the 2025 FUBA Women’s National Basketball League semifinals for the first time in their 16-year history, Magic Stormers are now focused on building a team capable of competing at the very top.
The Rubaga-based side, who finished seventh in the regular season to clinch a playoff spot, pulled off a stunning upset against second-seeded KCCA Leopards in the quarterfinals before bowing out to JT Lady Jaguars in the semis.
Assistant head coach Emmanuel Gashugi says the team’s progress is a source of pride after years of steady growth.
“We managed to blend young and experienced players to grow as a team. We worked hard, played good defense, and it paid off,” Gashugi said.
The Stormers were boosted in the second round by the addition of forward Joy Mupalia Nekesa, who strengthened a squad already featuring standouts like Daphine Adong, Kur Ajah, and Angela Auma.
“It’s the first time we’ve played at this stage, and it’s been a valuable learning experience for the players. It shows us what we need to do to reach our goals in the next five to ten years,” Gashugi added.
