Oleksandr Usyk, the 38-year-old two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, has reversed his retirement plans, announcing he will continue fighting until he is 41 and aims for a ring return in 2026.
The unbeaten Ukrainian, who recently defeated Daniel Dubois, confirmed his new longevity goal to the Ready to Fight website, stating, “I’ll fight until I’m 41. Then I’ll build a sports academy.”
He is currently back in training after a back injury forced the postponement of his mandatory defense against Joseph Parker.
However, Usyk quickly dismissed any possibility of fighting rising British heavyweight Moses Itauma, 20, who recently stopped Dillian Whyte.
Usyk cited Itauma’s youth and past comments, saying, “No, I won’t fight Itauma… He said himself he doesn’t hit grandpas.”
Negotiations for Usyk’s next opponent are ongoing.
