Aston Villa stunned Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-1 comeback win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, preventing Spurs from climbing to second in the Premier League table.
Tottenham took an early lead in the fifth minute through Rodrigo Bentancur’s first club goal of 2025.
However, Villa equalized before half-time with a superb, looping 20-yard strike from the in-form Morgan Rogers in the 37th minute.
The winner came in the 77th minute when substitute Emiliano Buendía cut inside and fired home his third goal in four games, assisted by Lucas Digne.
The victory marks Aston Villa’s fifth straight win in all competitions, lifting them into the top half of the table after a poor start to the season.
For Tottenham, the loss is their second league defeat under manager Thomas Frank and continues a troubling run of form at home.
Rogers, who also recently scored his first goal for England, was named Player of the Match.
