Namuwongo Blazers stormed into the Elite 16 of the Road to BAL 2026 after crushing Djabal Basketball Club from Comoros 132–58 on Sunday evening in Dar es Salaam.
The result came a day after the Ugandan side fell 83–70 to Dar City, but the Blazers bounced back in emphatic fashion to seal their qualification.
Led by a brilliant 39-point performance from Peter Obleng, Nam Blazers dominated from start to finish.
Joel Lukoji Banza’s early three-pointers set the tone as the Ugandans raced to a 31–10 first-quarter lead.
By halftime, the Blazers were up by 39 points, showcasing superior ball movement and defensive control.
Obleng’s shooting accuracy, supported by strong contributions from Ivan Enabu and Innocent Ochera, ensured there was no way back for Djabal.
The 78-point margin underlined the team’s attacking depth and hunger to represent Uganda at the continental level.
The qualification marks Uganda’s return to the Elite 16, scheduled for November, where Nam Blazers will compete for a place in next year’s Basketball Africa League.
The team now turns its focus to the National Basketball League finals against holders City Oilers, which begin this week in Kampala.
