Uganda wrapped up the 2025 East Africa Badminton Championships in style, sweeping top honors as the week-long regional event came to a close over the weekend.
With more than 1,000 players from across East Africa competing, the finals turned into a fierce Uganda–Kenya battle, but the hosts were unstoppable. Uganda claimed victory in several major categories, cementing their reputation as the region’s badminton powerhouse.
The spotlight shone on Uganda’s young stars, with Claire Namirembe and Abigail Ndagire leading the charge. Namirembe captured the Under-19 girls’ title, while Ndagire triumphed in the Under-15 category.
In the boys’ division, Mbowa Najimu put on a commanding display to take the Under-19 crown, showcasing Uganda’s growing depth and future promise in the sport.
Away from the youth matches, the corporate competition brought extra flair to the tournament.
Event sponsors City Tyres lived up to their slogan of performance and endurance, taking home the corporate championship after a spirited contest that blended fun and professionalism.
