Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new manager, signing the former Burnley and Everton boss until the summer of 2027.
The move comes after a chaotic start to the season that saw Dyche become the club’s third boss, replacing Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou’s tenure lasted just 39 days, making it the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history. He was sacked 17 minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Chelsea, having failed to win any of his eight games.
Forest currently sit 18th in the Premier League table. Dyche’s appointment, led by Edu Gaspar and George Syrianos, is viewed as a calculated switch back to a more pragmatic style, aiming for stability and survival.
“Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement,” said the club, also noting his local roots and history as a Forest youth player.
Pundits like Chris Sutton see it as a “sensible appointment” for a club focused on avoiding relegation.
Dyche will immediately face a test, with his first game being a Europa League clash at home against Porto on Thursday, followed by a Premier League match at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Dyche will be joined by former Forest players Ian Woan and Steven Stone in his coaching staff.
