Hoima Stadium Glows in Uganda’s Colors as LED Lights Installed

State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang has confirmed the completion of the long-awaited Hoima City Stadium, marking a major milestone in Uganda’s sports infrastructure development.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ogwang announced, “Hoima City Stadium has been completed. We now await its commissioning by President @KagutaMuseveni.”

The $129 million facility, constructed by Turkish firm Summa, stands as one of Uganda’s most advanced sports complexes.

It features a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-capacity indoor arena, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, training pitches, and outdoor courts.

The project, fully funded through oil revenues, has been central to Uganda’s preparations for co-hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with Kenya and Tanzania.

The completion comes after months of steady progress that saw major works like roofing, landscaping, floodlights, and seating installations wrapped up ahead of schedule.

The stadium also boasts modern touches, including LED lighting that illuminates Uganda’s black, yellow, and red colors across its exterior, and a world-class parquet floor in the indoor arena.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officially commission the facility in December during his visit to Bunyoro, marking the official handover of the project to the government.
