Former legislator and presidential hopeful Mubarak Munyagwa has hailed Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, Vipers SC President and former FUFA president, as the true backbone of Ugandan sports.
Munyagwa praised Mulindwa for his unmatched dedication, passion, and long-term investment in football development, describing him as a man whose efforts have shaped the nation’s sporting progress.
“Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa’s contribution to sports, especially football, is unmatched. He has invested a lot of money without expecting any returns, yet he continues to build a strong foundation that will benefit Uganda for years to come,” Munyagwa said.
He noted that the groundwork laid by Mulindwa during his time as FUFA president set the stage for the current success of the federation under Moses Magogo.
Munyagwa added that Mulindwa’s vision and structures remain instrumental in the continued growth of football both locally and internationally.
“Magogo is excelling today because of the strong base Dr. Mulindwa created,” Munyagwa emphasized.
Mulindwa, who served as FUFA president from 2005 to 2013, is widely credited for professionalizing football administration in Uganda, improving youth development structures, and establishing St. Mary’s Kitende as a hub for nurturing young talent.
