Uganda’s Victoria Pearls extended their dominance over Canada in the Victoria Series with a convincing four-wicket win at Lugogo Cricket Oval, sealing a 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.
Batting first, Uganda posted 100 for 6. Stephanie Nampiina anchored the innings with 24 off 18 balls, while Kevin Awino contributed a patient 21 off 27. Opener Janet Mbabazi added a steady 20 off 33.
For Canada, right-arm off-break bowler Terisha Lavia led the attack with figures of 2 for 10 at an economy of 2.50. Vandana Mahajan also claimed two wickets, while Indomatie Goordial picked up one.
In reply, Canada’s chase faltered early as openers Habeeba Barder and Achini Perera were dismissed in the first over. Captain Amarpal Kaur showed resistance with 28 off 37 before falling to Rita Musamali. Vandana Mahajan added 17 off 23, and Terisha Lavia chipped in with 12 off 11.
Kevin Amuge once again stood out for the Victoria Pearls, delivering a brilliant spell of 3 for 7 with 18 dot balls and an economy of just 2. Ritah Musamali claimed two wickets, while veteran Consylate Aweko Nimungu took one as Canada were bowled out for 82 in 18.3 overs.
Uganda’s right-arm medium pacer Kevin Amuge was named the BlackLyf Player of the Match for her three-wicket haul, conceding only seven runs in her four-over spell.
Victoria Pearls assistant head coach Brian Masaba praised the team’s composure, saying, “As a team, we’re happy to close out the series. At one point, the game got tight, but the girls stayed calm under pressure.”
