Defending champions Napoli overcame rivals Inter Milan with a decisive 3-1 victory at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, climbing to the top of the Serie A table.
The win, which ended a two-game winless streak for Antonio Conte’s side, was spearheaded by goals from Kevin De Bruyne (33′ pen), Scott McTominay (54′), and Frank Anguissa (66′).
De Bruyne’s opener, a penalty, was soon followed by an injury that saw the Belgian midfielder leave the match.
Inter briefly responded with a penalty of their own from Hakan Çalhanoğlu (59′) following McTominay’s brilliant second goal, but Anguissa quickly restored Napoli’s two-goal cushion.
Scott McTominay, who played a key role in their title win last season, was named Player of the Match.
The result puts Napoli one point ahead of AC Milan at the league’s summit.
