JKL Lady Dolphins moved within two wins of another National Basketball League crown after overpowering JT Lady Jaguars 77–59 in Game Three of the women’s finals at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday night.
The defending champions took a 2–1 series lead after outclassing the Jaguars in the final quarter, where they held their opponents to only eight points.
JT Lady Jaguars started brightly, racing to a 24–18 first-quarter lead with sharp shooting and quick transitions.
But JKL grew into the game, tightening their defense through the introduction of Becky Keren Longom, whose presence disrupted the Jaguars’ rhythm. The Dolphins edged ahead 36–35 at halftime.
Both teams battled evenly in the third quarter, but JKL’s experience began to tell.
Holding a narrow 52–51 advantage heading into the final period, the Dolphins launched an 8–0 run that forced Jaguars coach Sudi Ulanga into a timeout.
The regrouping did little to stop JKL’s charge, as the Jaguars’ attack collapsed under relentless pressure.
Hope Akello led JKL with 17 points, while captain Flavia Oketcho contributed 13. Evelyn Nakiyinji added 12 and Brenda Ekone 11 in a balanced scoring display.
On the other side, Rhoda Nagitta (15) and Shakirah Nanvubya (13) were the main contributors for the Jaguars.
With a 2–1 lead, JKL will seek to tighten their grip on the series when Game Four tips off on Friday night, as they chase another successful title defense.
