Uganda U17 team leader and FUFA Executive Committee member Ariga Rasoul has urged the Cubs to approach the FIFA U17 World Cup with confidence, discipline, and a hunger to make history.
Speaking to the team in Dubai on Wednesday evening, Ariga reminded the young players that they are carrying the nation’s hopes and have a rare chance to leave a mark on the world stage.
“As you write history on the world stage, remember that discipline and focus are key to unlocking your true potential,” he said.
“Keep pushing boundaries, stay hungry for success, and let your determination be the narrative that inspires generations to come.”
Ariga delivered his message shortly after the Cubs completed their final build-up games in Dubai, where they faced fellow World Cup-bound sides Venezuela, Panama, and Paraguay.
Despite two narrow defeats and a draw, he said the experience was vital preparation for the tournament ahead.
The Uganda Cubs, who depart for Qatar on November 1, are set to make history as the first Ugandan football team to play at a FIFA World Cup.
They are drawn in Group K alongside Canada, Chile, and France. The team opens its campaign against Canada on November 5 before facing Chile on November 8 and France on November 11.
