Since sealing a move to FK Vardar in North Macedonia, in January 2025, Mato has not only settled quickly but has become one of the side’s most decisive attacking weapons, directly contributing to 21 goals, 19 scored and two created, in just 31 appearances.

Salary and Contract Details

Though FK Vardar have kept most of their financial dealings confidential, unofficial sources reveal that Mato earns a monthly gross salary of €10,000 (approx. Ugx40 million), translating to an annual income of €120,000 (approx. Ugx483 million).

His one-and-a-half-year contract with the North Macedonian giants is valued at approximately €180,000 (Ugx725 million), factoring in bonuses and performance incentives.

Market Value and Growth

Mato’s rise has also been mirrored in his steadily increasing market value. According to Transfermarkt, his current worth stands at €500,000 (approx Ugx 2 billion), marking the highest point in his career so far.

Just over a year ago, his valuation hovered around €100,000 (about Ugx. 400 million). His impressive displays in North Macedonia have since earned him not only a higher valuation but also a growing reputation as one of Uganda’s most promising exports.

Jan 30, 2024 €100,000 20 Şanlıurfaspor
May 22, 2024 €200,000 20 Brera Strumica

Career Path

Born and raised in Uganda, Mato’s football roots trace back to Lweza FC, where his energy and pace quickly caught attention. A move to Proline FC followed, where he played a key role in their promotion campaign before joining KCCA FC, one of Uganda’s most successful clubs.

His exploits at KCCA opened the door to European football, first with Şanlıurfaspor in Turkey, then Brera Strumica in North Macedonia, where he matured into a complete attacking threat. His outstanding form earned him a mid-season transfer to FK Vardar Skopje, where he continues to flourish.

Years Team Appearances Goals

2017–2018 Lweza FC 11 4
2018–2020 Proline FC 24 11
2021–2023 KCCA FC 47 22
2023 Şanlıurfaspor 6 0
2023–2025 Brera Strumica 35 7
2025–Present FK Vardar 31 19

Achievements and Recognition

At just 22, Mato’s trophy cabinet is already taking shape. He lifted the Macedonian Cup with Vardar Skopje during the 2024/25 campaign and was voted Best Foreign Player in Uganda in 2024.

His knack for delivering in clutch moments also earned him a Real Star Award in March 2023, following his dramatic last-minute winner for Uganda against Tanzania in the AFCON qualifiers, a moment that cemented his reputation as a player for the big occasions.

From Uganda’s domestic league to North Macedonia’s top flight, Rogers Mato’s story is one of perseverance, precision, and progress. With his dazzling pace, work ethic, and growing confidence, he stands as one of East Africa’s brightest football ambassadors, vand the journey, by all accounts, has only just begun.
