Inter Milan is considering a midfield overhaul in the January transfer window despite strong performances from their starters, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The club is reportedly dissatisfied with the quality of their rotational options.
Morten Frendrup, the 24-year-old Genoa stalwart, is a key target. He is admired for his quality, versatility, and excellent defensive statistics (tackles, interceptions).
The potential incoming transfer coincides with the review of several current players:
Andy Diouf, who has logged only 26 minutes, could be sent out on loan.
Davide Frattesi might seek a move for more regular playing time, as he is currently Nicolò Barella’s deputy.
Piotr Zielinski is also under assessment, partly due to his high salary (€4.5M) relative to his role.
While Frendrup would be a strong addition, convincing Genoa to sell mid-season will be challenging, and some observers feel major changes are better suited for the summer.
