Ugandan athletics stars Jacob Kiplimo, Peruth Chemutai, Stephen Kiprotich, Moses Kipsiro, and Victor Kiplangat have been unveiled as ambassadors for the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State Marathon, set for November 30, 2025, in Kenya.
The event will be chaired by Kenyan President William Ruto.
The marathon, launched under the theme “Our Region, Our Responsibility – Pamoja Milele (Together Forever),” seeks to promote unity, peace, and prosperity among EAC member states through sport.
It will bring together elite runners, dignitaries, and fans from across the region in a celebration of shared identity.
Olympic champions Kiprotich and Kipsiro hailed the initiative as a fitting opportunity to showcase the region’s athletic excellence while strengthening cross-border ties.
Kipsiro encouraged lawmakers from all EAC nations to rally their athletes for participation, noting that sport remains a powerful tool for building solidarity.
The EAC Heads of State Marathon will be the first of its kind, reflecting the region’s commitment to deepening integration and cooperation through athletics.
With some of the continent’s top names serving as ambassadors, the event promises both high-level competition and a strong message of togetherness.
