The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that construction of the new Hoima City Stadium is now complete, marking a major milestone in Uganda’s preparations for upcoming continental football engagements.
According to FUFA Executive Committee member Rodgers Byamukama, the contractor, Ms. Suuma, informed the federation on Wednesday evening that the project had reached 100 percent completion.
The next step will be inviting delegations from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA to inspect and certify the facility before it is officially handed over to the Government of Uganda.
Byamukama expressed confidence that the stadium would meet international standards, citing the contractor’s track record and commitment to quality. “Ms. Suuma is a reputable company that has done everything as required in the contract,” he said.
He added that FUFA’s focus will now shift to developing nearby training facilities, including Masindi Stadium, Booma Grounds, and Sir Tito Grounds in Hoima.
These venues are expected to complement Hoima City Stadium in supporting football development and hosting major events in the region.
Byamukama also urged local investors to seize the opportunity to expand the hospitality sector, noting that accommodation and related services remain a key gap as the region prepares to welcome more visitors for football activities.
