More than 100 golfers from across Uganda and beyond are expected in Masindi next week for the 2025 Kinyara Golf Open, which tees off from November 13 to 15 at the Kinyara Golf Club.
Now in its 27th edition, the tournament has grown into one of the country’s most anticipated events, attracting professionals, amateurs, women, and senior players aged 50 and above. The competition will feature both local and international entrants, with substantial rewards awaiting top performers.
Professional golfers will battle over 54 holes for a grand prize of UGX 10 million. The men’s amateur gross winner will take home UGX 4 million, while the ladies’ gross champion will earn UGX 3 million.
Speaking at the tournament launch, Kinyara Limited Public Relations Manager Francis Mugwerwa said the company’s continued support for the event underscores its commitment to community development through sport.
Kinyara Golf Club captain Moses Enzama said his team is ready to welcome the field and display their home-course advantage. “We’re fully prepared and eager to show what Kinyara can offer,” he noted.
Adding a light-hearted edge to the competition, a Hole-in-One challenge on the seventh hole will see one lucky golfer walk away with 500 kilograms of sugar, courtesy of Kinyara Sugar Limited.
