It was yet another brilliant performance for Rogers Mato and Vardar in the Macedonian First League on Wednesday.
The Ugandan forward opened the scoring in the 54th minute, giving the league leaders a deserved advantage against Pelister.
Pelister refused to go quietly, with Petar Petkovski leveling the score just past the hour mark.
But Vardar’s composure held, and Goran Zakaric calmly converted an 83rd-minute penalty to snatch a 2-1 victory.
With the win, Vardar remain top of the table, undefeated after 12 games, amassing 30 points from nine wins and three draws.
Mato’s strike marked his 11th goal of the season, keeping him hot on the heels of Struga’s Bassirou Compaore, the current leading scorer with 12 goals.
At just 22 years old, Mato is proving to be a key figure in Vardar’s title ambitions.
Next up, the leaders host Tikves, with Mato looking to continue his rich vein of form.
