Vipers SC continued their dominance over rivals KCCA FC with a hard-fought 1–0 victory at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Friday, a result sealed by none other than former KCCA golden boy Allan Okello.
In a fixture that has grown into the biggest rivalry in Ugandan football over the past decade, the Venoms once again came out on top, claiming their third consecutive win against the 13-time champions across all competitions.
The decisive moment arrived in the 33rd minute, when KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago misjudged a routine play, spilling the ball into Okello’s path.
The forward, showing no mercy but plenty of respect, calmly slotted it home and chose not to celebrate against his boyhood club.
Ironically, this was Okello’s first appearance of the season, having missed Vipers’ opening win over Entebbe UPPC FC.
And what a return it was, his goal not only secured all three points for the hosts but also snapped KCCA’s five-match unbeaten run.
The defeat will sting for the men in yellow, not just because of the result, but because the damage came from one of their own.
For Vipers and their fans, though, it’s another sweet chapter in a rivalry they now seem to own.
The pendulum has clearly swung. Once the hunters, KCCA now find themselves the hunted, and Vipers are showing no signs of slowing down.
