Mercedes Formula 1 team principal and chief executive Toto Wolff is in advanced talks to sell approximately 5% of his shareholding.
The deal values the Mercedes F1 team at an unprecedented £4.6 billion, setting a record for an F1 franchise valuation.
Crucially, the 53-year-old is expected to remain in his powerful dual role as Team Principal and CEO.
This staggering valuation reflects the massive boom in Formula 1’s global appeal and comes despite the team’s current position of second in the constructors’ championship.
The valuation marks a colossal increase since co-owner Ineos bought its stake in 2022 for just £208 million.
The other major shareholders, Mercedes and Ineos, who each own one-third of the team, remain fully committed.
