Uganda Athletics General Secretary Beatrice Ayikoru has been honored with the prestigious ANOCA Gender Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing women’s participation in African sport.
Presented by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), the award celebrates individuals driving gender equality and empowering women through sport across the continent.
Uganda Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Uganda President Dr. Donald Rukare received the award on Ayikoru’s behalf, praising her years of service in athlete development, mentorship, and administrative excellence.
A former national athlete and one of Uganda’s most respected sports administrators, Ayikoru has played a key role in promoting women’s inclusion in athletics and strengthening governance structures within the federation.
Her recognition places Uganda among the nations leading the charge for gender equity in sport, inspiring a new generation of women leaders on and off the track.
