Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has launched a stinging new attack on co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, accusing him of “destroying” the club’s famous attacking football identity and showing a lack of respect for its history.
Speaking during a public event, the French icon revealed he had offered his services to Ratcliffe to help the club, but his proposal was rejected.
“Sir Alex Ferguson created a style of beautiful attacking football, which the new owners should have used. Instead, they destroyed it,” Cantona stated.
Cantona, a long-time critic of the regime since Ratcliffe took control of football operations in February 2024, also reiterated his fury over Ratcliffe’s decision to remove Sir Alex Ferguson from the club payroll in early 2025, calling it a “lack of respect” and “totally scandalous.”
He concluded by suggesting he no longer feels close to the club’s current management, stating their decisions are the “complete opposite” of what is needed and that they “don’t respect anybody.”
