NCBA Junior Golf Season Ends at Lugazi Hills With Fresh Talent Emerging

The NCBA Junior Golf Series closed its 2025 season on Sunday with a crowded finale at Lugazi Hills Golf Course, bringing together more than seventy young players from four to seventeen years old.

The series rotates around different courses each year and ends with a final where the best performers from the tour are recognised.

This year’s list of standout players included Timothy Tayebwa, Peter Mayende, Nehemiah Matsiko, Hannah Matsiko, Neithan Agaba and Loganathan.

The biggest step forward came from Mayende of Lugazi Hills, who earned full sponsorship from NCBA to compete in a junior event in Dubai.

Speaking to NBS Sport, NCBA Uganda CEO Mark Muyobo said the bank is encouraged by the growth shown across the series and plans to keep investing in junior golf.

He noted that last season the bank supported two young players at the regional junior event in Muthaiga where a Ugandan finished second, something he described as proof that the programme is moving in the right direction.

Muyobo also backed the decision to return to Lugazi Hills, the same course that staged the Uganda Open. He said the game is built on challenges and the juniors needed a chance to test themselves on the same layout used by senior players.

The new NCBA Junior Golf Series season is set to begin on 14 December at Lake Victoria Serena Kigo Golf Course.
