AFCON 2025 Hits Premier League Hard: Sunderland and Wolves Face Crisis

The Premier League is bracing for major disruption as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 runs from 21 December to 18 January.

Up to 17 clubs will lose players for up to seven crucial matches.

Sunderland (7 players) and Wolves (5 players) are the hardest hit, with both losing numerous first-team regulars.

Key Players Out

Liverpool loses superstar forward Mohamed Salah (Egypt).

Crystal Palace must cope without top scorer Ismaila Sarr (Senegal).

Manchester United sees three key players depart, including Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui.

Everton and Fulham both lose key starters to the Senegal and Nigeria squads, respectively.

Crucially, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Leeds will not lose any players to the tournament, potentially giving them an advantage over the festive period.
