The sixth Jinja Open Table Tennis Championship has been launched at the Mandela Group of Companies headquarters, confirming a strong field for the two day event set for Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 at St. Andrews Church in Jinja.
Organisers expect the busiest edition to date, with players from Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda competing across mixed doubles, men and women doubles, men and women singles, plus U13 and U19 categories.
City Tyres has returned as the lead sponsor for the second year in a row with a full support package that covers trophies, umpire shirts, playing materials, transport and allowances for officials, along with Supreme Posho flour for the winners.
The backing follows a successful 2024 event that attracted more than 400 participants. This year’s entries are already at 250 and organisers expect more players to register before the weekend.
Three time U19 champion Samuel Ankunda has confirmed his return and says he is ready to push for a fourth straight title as he looks to extend his run at the top of the age group.
