England manager Thomas Tuchel has pledged to personally contact the 55-60 players on his long list who were left out of the recent squad, including high-profile names like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish.
The commitment follows a flawless World Cup qualification campaign, which saw England finish top of Group K with eight wins and no goals conceded.
Tuchel emphasized that his job is to explain the selections, detail areas for improvement, and chart a path to the 2026 World Cup squad. The manager admitted he plans to use FaceTime or in-person visits—despite “hating phone calls”—to deliver his feedback.
The recent camp saw Jarell Quansah debut at right-back in Alexander-Arnold’s place, with Tuchel citing the Bayer Leverkusen defender’s superior current “package” and consistent game time as reasons for his inclusion.
The manager has one more camp in March before naming his final squad for the tournament, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States from 11 June to 19 July.
