Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted the club remains “far from perfection” despite heading into the international break on a five-match unbeaten league run, which included a statement win over Liverpool.
The Portuguese coach, who has faced criticism for his preferred 3-4-3 formation, strongly defended his tactics, arguing that the true culprit for inconsistent performances is a “lack of intensity,” not the system.
He told Stan Sport that while the team has gained confidence, the draw against Tottenham still left him feeling “frustration.”
Amorim’s comments land as pressure on his position has eased considerably, a contrast to the scrutiny following last season’s 15th-place finish.
He acknowledged the vital support from co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which he said helped to settle “the noise” around the club.
The Red Devils, currently 7th in the Premier League, resume their campaign against Everton next Monday night.
They will be without key summer signing Benjamin Sesko, who is sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury suffered against Spurs.
