Tennis legend Roger Federer has been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) in his first year of eligibility, the Hall announced on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Federer, the first man to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles, was the sole inductee in the player category for the Class of 2026.
The Swiss star, who held the world No. 1 ranking for a record 237 consecutive weeks and captured 103 ATP titles, was notified of the honor at Swiss Tennis, where his career began.
He was congratulated by fellow Hall of Famers, including Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be inducted,” Federer said, adding that he looks forward to celebrating with the tennis community in Newport next August.
Sportscaster and journalist Mary Carillo was also elected in the Contributor Category. The official induction ceremony will take place from August 27-29, 2026.
