Chelsea forward Cole Palmer will be absent for an extra week after fracturing his small toe in a bizarre accident at home on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old was set to return from a two-month groin injury but suffered the setback by stubbing his foot on a door.
The injury rules him out of the crucial fixtures against Burnley, Barcelona, and Arsenal.
Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the injury, calling it “nothing important” but stressing that Palmer “won’t be back in the next week.”
Palmer is considered the club’s standout attacker, but Chelsea have performed well without him, winning eight of their last 11 games since his last appearance on September 20th.
