Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has promised to “stomp all over” and “break” Jake Paul when the pair meet in a heavyweight bout on 19 December in Miami.
Despite the surreal nature of the mismatch—pitting an Olympic gold medallist against a YouTuber-turned-boxer—Joshua, 35, did not mince words at the promotion event.
“I’m going to really want to hurt him. I’m here to prove I’m the better fighter,” Joshua said.
The fight comes with unusual stipulations, including a lower-than-usual weight limit for Joshua (17st\ 7lbs\ (111kg)) and 10oz gloves for both. Joshua is reportedly set to earn around £36.9 million ($50 million).
Joshua revealed he has joined former opponent Oleksandr Usyk’s coaching team after taking a 12-month break since his September 2024 loss.
Despite the size and experience difference, the fighters kept the exchange respectful, though Paul was criticised for saying he was willing “to die in the ring.”
