Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim insists the club’s needs come first, despite the reported unhappiness of Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee, who are seeking January moves to secure regular game time for the 2026 World Cup.
Neither player has started a Premier League game this season, leading to them losing their international spots with England and the Netherlands.
While sympathizing with the duo, Amorim firmly stated, “The first thing is that the club comes first.” He confirmed he will only sanction a departure if it is “right for United.”
The players may see increased opportunities soon, however, due to injuries and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations departures of key forwards.
The manager’s cautious approach also extends to the team’s form.
Despite a five-game unbeaten run, Amorim warned against complacency after recent draws where the team squandered first-half leads, stressing that the “storm” he predicted is not yet over and constant urgency is required.
