Soltilo Bright Stars and Kataka FC secured important victories as the FUFA Big League completed matchday nine on Sunday November 23.
Bright Stars controlled their game at Kavumba with a 2 to 0 win against Onduparaka, while Kataka produced a second half fightback to beat Paidha Black Angels in Mbale.
Bright Stars went ahead in the thirty fifth minute when captain Sharif Nsereko threaded a pass through midfield for Mansoor Safi, who finished with composure.
After the restart Mansoor won a penalty and Nsereko converted to extend the lead. The hosts stayed in control for the remainder of the match and rose to fourteen points from nine games.
In Mbale, Kataka overturned a first half deficit to defeat Paidha Black Angels 2 to 1 in a tense contest.
Paidha struck first through Angua Manisuru just before the interval. Kataka equalised on the hour through Saul Bukoma, a goal that triggered protests from the Paidha technical area and resulted in the dismissal of head coach Mark Twinamatsiko.
Five minutes later Ali Ssentamu guided in the winner. Paidha ended the match with ten players after Yoacel Raymond received a second yellow card in the eighty eighth minute. The victory keeps Kataka unbeaten at home and moves them to thirteen points.
At Nakivubo the top two could not be separated as table leaders Blacks Power and second placed Wakiso Giants drew 0 to 0. Blacks Power remain on nineteen points with Wakiso four behind.
Elsewhere Bunyaruguru United beat Nebbi Central 2 to 1, Ntugasaze drew 0 to 0 with CATDA, Kiyinda Boys edged Iganga United 2 to 1, Mbale Heroes won 2 to 0 away to Kaaro Karungi, and Kigezi HomeBoyz defeated Young Elephant 4 to 0.
