Former Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher will join the 2026 IndyCar Series, signing with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL).
The 26-year-old, son of Michael Schumacher, will pilot the number 47 Honda alongside teammates Graham Rahal and Louis Foster.
The season begins on 1 March 2026 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Schumacher, who made 43 F1 starts and achieved a best finish of sixth, left his role as Mercedes reserve driver at the end of 2024. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons racing for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, securing three podiums.
The move follows rejected bids for an F1 return with Sauber/Audi and Alpine.
RLL co-owner Bobby Rahal praised the signing: “His test with us on the IMS road course was exceptional, he impressed every single team member… We’re thrilled he’s chosen to join us.”
Schumacher noted his varied racing background: “I have insights and knowledge that I am sure will contribute to a great partnership.”
