Uganda’s cherished netball team, the She Cranes, delivered another impressive performance on matchday two of the second edition of the Celtic Cup at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, securing a commanding 72 to 46 win over the Northern Ireland Warriors.
Margret Baagala, also known as Maggie, was named Player of the Match, receiving her award from the new Commonwealth Sport President, Donald Rukare. The She Cranes mid-court star produced a standout display, and her control in the middle was the catalyst for the team’s dominant victory.
Margret’s vision, quick transitions, and precise passing consistently opened up the shooting circle, leaving the Warriors defense struggling to keep up. She did not just control the tempo of the game; she defined it throughout.
Stand-in She Cranes captain and goal shooter Mary Cholhok Nuba praised the team’s display and expressed confidence that they can go on to win the Celtic Cup. She said, “It’s great that we are improving, and we need to fix a few things both in defense and in attack.”
She added that the ultimate target is to start and finish strong, noting that more work is needed in the mid-court.
