Chelsea has received a major boost ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League derby against Arsenal, with star forward Cole Palmer declared fit and available to start.
The 23-year-old, who fractured his toe last week, was confirmed fit by manager Enzo Maresca, despite previously suggesting the match might come too soon.
Maresca called Palmer, who missed the wins over Burnley and Barcelona, the team’s “best player.”
A victory for Chelsea, currently second, would close the gap on the Gunners to three points.
Palmer’s return sparks a selection dilemma. Chelsea has performed exceptionally in his absence, winning 10 of their last 13 matches.
Summer signing Estevao Willian has shone with five goals, and Maresca suggested he might play alongside Palmer.
However, the form of other attackers like Pedro Neto and the need for tactical “balance” against league leaders Arsenal could see Palmer start on the bench.
