Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his final 25-man squad for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Morocco, prioritizing team harmony by leaving out three standby players—Iqraam Rayners, Mduduzi Shabalala, and Thabo Moloisane—to avoid training disruption.
The selection saw the surprising omission of in-form striker Rayners and veteran playmaker Themba Zwane.
Broos instead backed youth, including two 20-year-olds: defender Tylon Smith and forward Shandre Campbell, explicitly stating the move is for long-term development and experience at a “higher level.”
Winger Elias Mokwana also earned a recall due to his versatility and strong club form.
Bafana Bafana (Group B) start their campaign against Angola on December 22.
