Cameroon has shocked fans by sacking coach Marc Brys and dropping both star goalkeeper Andre Onana and veteran striker Vincent Aboubakar ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Brys’s dismissal, unsurprising after his feud with FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o and the country’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, sees local coach David Pagou take the helm.
Pagou’s first squad omits Manchester United’s Onana, currently on loan at Trabzonspor, and Aboubakar, who was the top scorer in the 2022 AFCON.
The squad, however, includes Premier League players Bryan Mbeumo (Man Utd) and Carlos Baleba (Brighton).
The five-time champions will face holders Ivory Coast, Gabon, and Mozambique in Group F at the tournament.
