Uganda has confirmed its final 12 player squad for the 2025 Netball Africa Cup of Nations in Malawi after Head Coach Fred Mugerwa left out four players who featured in the recent Celtic Cup triumph in Scotland.
The technical team removed defender Shakirah Nassaka, midfielder Malisera Akello, shooter Mary Nuba, and Namulema Fildauce, opening the door for call ups for Seera Zamu and Norah Lunkuse.
The squad was officially flagged off today at Cooper Chimney ahead of the tournament, which will run in Malawi from 8 to 14 December. Uganda has been drawn in Pool A with Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Mugerwa said the group remains focused despite the changes and the challenging field, which includes continental heavyweights such as South Africa and hosts Malawi. Assistant coach Grace Kadondi said the team is determined to build on its momentum from Scotland.
“As She Cranes, we always aim to make Uganda shine in every tournament. Winning the Celtic Cup in Scotland has motivated us to go and bring home another title which is the African Championship,” said Kadondi.
The team will travel in batches, with the first group scheduled to depart tonight.
