Kevin Durant became just the eighth player in NBA history to surpass 31,000 career points during the Houston Rockets’ 117-98 win against the Phoenix Suns.
The 37-year-old secured the milestone with a 10-foot jump shot in the first quarter, finishing the night with 28 points (31,024 overall).
Durant joins an elite list that includes legends like Michael Jordan and LeBron James. He commented that previous greats “set a standard that I try to reach every day.”
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks confirmed that star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss up to a month as he recovers from a calf strain.
Bucks coach Don Rivers stressed the need for full recovery, noting that the team will give him “added time” given the nature of the injury.
In other action, the Los Angeles Lakers fell 126-105 to the Boston Celtics. Both teams played shorthanded, with LeBron James (sciatica) and Luka Doncic (personal reasons) both absent.
