Italian club Fiorentina has implemented enhanced security measures to protect players, staff, and their families after receiving “unacceptable and shameful” threats.
The threats followed the club’s 3-1 loss to Sassuolo on Saturday, which left Fiorentina bottom of Serie A after 14 matches and winless in nine games overall.
In a strong statement, the club condemned the behavior and expressed “full solidarity and support” for those targeted, confirming they had contacted authorities to ensure safety.
The seriousness of the threats was highlighted after the wife of defender Dodo shared death threats aimed at her and her family on social media.
Fiorentina reiterated that there is “never… any room for intimidation, hatred or violence.”
