McLaren’s Lando Norris secured his maiden Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship today by finishing third in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old Briton took the title by two points over Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who won the race. Norris is the 11th British F1 World Champion, and his victory seals the Drivers’ and Constructors’ title double for McLaren—a feat not achieved since 1998.
Norris, emotional after the win, said, “It feels amazing. We did it and I’m so proud of everyone.”
McLaren perfectly managed the race, with teammate Oscar Piastri finishing second to cover the title rival.
Norris navigated key moments, including a strategic battle with Verstappen and a controversial tussle with Yuki Tsunoda, before sealing the achievement that crowns his career.
