The international friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Egypt’s Pharaohs has been moved from December 14 to December 16 ahead of the Morocco 2025 AFCON.
The Egyptian FA (EFA) has contacted the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) seeking assurance that the match will proceed.
Concerns arose following reports that Nigeria might cancel the game after Europe-based players expressed difficulty arriving in Cairo quickly due to the FIFA player release date of December 15.
An NFF source confirmed the federation is committed to the friendly, which is critical for Coach Eric Chelle’s preparations and assessment of his 55-man provisional squad.
The NFF is attempting to secure early release agreements with some clubs.
The match will be held at the Cairo International Stadium.
Egypt, drawn in Group B, has begun its training, while Nigeria is in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
